WHAT IS NEUROFEEDBACK

In its most simple definition, Neurofeedback is that process which helps assist the brain in regulating itself correctly.

By using leading edge technology such as the world's only Real Time EEG Neurofeedback, one can actually see what brain wave patterns look like in "real time." Once the brain's abnormal rhythm patterns are recognized, the machine is used to help correct them.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT PROCESS

One of the many reassuring features of Neurofeedback is that it is non-invasive. Two sensors are gently placed on the head at specific sites. A ground wire is then attached to the ear.

The sensors pick up the electrical activity of the brain and display it on the computer screen in front of the client.

Once the brain waves, or their graphic representation, are viewed the brain can be trained to inhibit the abnormal patterns.

HOW DOES THE MACHINE WORK WITH THE BRAIN

The high-speed Neurofeedback equipment can process over 250,000 patterns per second. It filters out and displays a wide range of electrical patterns in specific frequency bands that are produced by the brain. The two most important ones are beta and theta. Beat is a "fast" wave and theta a "slow" wave. The goal of therapy is to produce stronger beta waves and inhibit the excessive slow theta waves. The brain "knows" how to achieve this result. During the training session an audio and video signal are used to reinforce the normal rhythmic patterns and the brain immediately begins making the correction.

THE FIRST VISIT

On your first visit a short history will be taken. Right after that, you will have a training session and receive an evaluation of your brain wave patterns. Depending on the results, additional visits can be scheduled.
